Project Cost:>HK$50M
Peak ESL Team Size:40
Project Duration:60 months

ESL are providing survey management and construction support for the construction of Hong Kong’s longest rail tunnel.

The major part of this contract is the construction of a 7.65km twin tube high speed railway tunnel by drill and blast technique followed by tunnel lining and the construction of walkways to extremely high tolerances.

Survey work involves the set-up of fully automatic Tamrock 3 boom drilling jumbos, as excavated profiles, calculation of over and underbreak and reporting of same. Breakthrough error achieved was <5mm over 7.65km.

Setting out of lining shutters and railway walkways to high tolerances were then carried out including the use of horizontal slipform controlled by automatic total station.

Survey for a 150m deep ventilation shaft was also provided. This was also lined by slipforming.
